Within 7–10 days everything began to grow. The carrots were eventually stolen by squirrels (“varmints!”), but the potato plant thrived and revealed its surprisingly pretty, cosmos-like purple flowers — a genuine unexpected surprise.

The experience became a living lesson: planting a garden is a powerful reminder that we don’t have to control every detail. Much like coaching, leading, or parenting, our role is to provide the best environment we can with the resources we have — not perfect, but enough. The plant does the hard work of growing. Our job is simply to remove the obstacles in its way.
