Introducing - Spirit of the Calico

I re-worked this abstract piece to pull out the cat I saw in it. Although it's hard to see in the picture it has beautiful metallic copper and gold colours that catch the light.

The cat image reminded me of my calico cat Mindy that passed away suddenly just a few days before Christmas. She was my little baby princess and definitely the Queen of the house and if the other cats forgot that she would remind them.

Mindy got her confidence because when she was brought to the home as a wee kitten the other cats were mean to her because they felt threatened, they hissed and hit and isolated her so she became friends with our Jack Russell dog who funnily enough had very similar coloring to her. His name was Trouble and he became her protector, he didn't harm the other cats, he just stood in between them and her. Enough to diffuse the situation not to escalate it.

Some people would say that Mindy had an attitude. She didn't. She grew up in a home where she was loved, adored and protected and she knew her value so she was just unwilling to accept any substitutes.
